Emmy Rossum’s taste in music spans nearly a century, and a look through her collection is all the proof you need.
“I grew up listening to (classic) music. My mom played it around the house when I was a kid,” Rossum told TODAY.com. “I grew up in the city singing at the Met, so a lot of the music I heard was classical or retro, but then I also liked the Spice Girls.”
Rossum said that thoughtful writing is what draws her in to certain artists and songs. Check out some of Rossum’s favorite tracks in her playlist (plus the song she performed on TODAY) and let us know what you think in the comments.
“(The classics) are romantic and nostalgic and I think that’s something that’s kind of missing in modern writing,” Rossum said. “I really wanted to pay homage to that kind of music … that’s simple and feminine and pretty.”
